I am one of five management members of the student run machine shop. Working with a staff member, we teach over 50 proctors how to instruct users and maintain a safe work environment. We are responsible for implementing changes to increase the safety and accessibility of the machine shop. We coordinate with faculty members to help design and plan curriculum for Harvey Mudd's introduction to engineering design course. I also conduct workshops teaching first time shop users how to make personal projects in the machine shop, such as kitchen utensils, cutting boards, rings, and more.
I help teach over 100 students every semester how to safely operate machinery in the metal and wood shop. I instruct in machining best practices while overseeing the safety of users and creating a welcoming environment.
